National Seminar on Wetland Sustainability and Environmental Conservation.

KSMDB College seminar on environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation, organized by the Bhoomitrasena Club and sponsored by the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Trivandrum, marked the World Wetlands Day celebration in 2024. Ms. Lekshmy Sreekumar, FIC of Bhoomitrasena Club, welcomed attendees, while Capt. Dr. Madhu presided over the function. Prof. Dr. KC, Principal of KSMDB College Sasthamkotta, inaugurated the seminar. Renowned environmentalist and social worker Sri S. Babuji graced the event as the chief guest. Students from Bhoomitrasena Club, NCC, and the Department of Botany actively participated in the seminar.

World Wetlands Day, observed annually on February 2nd, raises awareness about the crucial role of wetlands for our planet. This year's theme is 'Wetlands Restoration,' commemorating the adoption of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands in 1971. Ramsar Sites, listed under this convention, aim to conserve and sustainably use natural resources. Established by UNESCO in 1971, the convention came into force in 1975, with India becoming a party on February 1, 1982.

Chief guest distributed the prizes to Best Wetland Mitras.Adithya L of 3rd DC Botany and Krupa Biju of 3rd DC Hindi received the awards.
