K-DISC- Preparation of Innovation action plan forCluster Development under One District One Idea – MSME Innovation Cluster The Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC) is a strategic think-tank and advisory body constituted by the Government of Kerala. K-DISC aims at bringing out path-breaking strategic plans that reflect new directions in technology, product and process innovations, social shaping of technology and creating a healthy and conducive ecosystem for fostering innovations in the state. For this K-DISC aims at appropriate institutional linkages to the selected innovations. As part of mobilising the academic partners, K-DISC had invited EOIs from leading academic institutions for undertaking preparation of innovation action plans of cluster development under One District One Idea – MSME innovation clusters.In connection with this programme post graduate department of economics of our college prepared an innovation action plan and submitted EOI. A total of one hundred and one EOIs were received by K-DISC. An expert committee was constituted for overseeing the process,based on the evaluation of the criteria published in EOI. Sixty-three (63) institutions were shortlisted out of the one hundred one (101) EOIs received. After careful examination of the EOI submissions, institutions were indexed based on the criteria as per EOI. Among the selected institutions, our college belongs to Class B within the district category

In continuation with mentor development programs and review on potential clusters identified for detailed study and diagnostic report preparation by the institution the Chathanoor handloom cluster of the Kollam district, Kerala is selected for the study . The work has been started with five students per teacher and 25 students are participating in this innovation.
