NSQF Courses

Looming large with a rich pedagogical heritage of more than 50 years, this premiere institution is now taking new strides- treading new pastures of learning, with the introduction of two new undergraduate vocational courses aided by UGC and affiliated to University of Kerala conforming to National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).

The College is given sanction for starting two B.Voc. courses under National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF)  from the academic year 2020-21 onwards.

About the B.Voc. Course

B.Voc. (Bachelor of Vocational Degree) courses are available in several fields for students who have completed their 12th standard or equivalent. This is largely targeted towards youth who want to enhance their employability opportunities to learn, earn and grow. The advantage of these courses is that as against common Degree courses like Engineering or B.Com. or B.Sc, there are multiple exit points and continued exposure to the industry. The work experience increases the student’s chances of landing a job.

The advantages of B.Voc. courses are that they help ensure the learners have adequate skills, make them work-ready and enhance the employability of the graduate students. A unique feature of the curriculum is the blend of vocational and business management concepts. This higher education system incorporates the requirements of various industries in a flexible manner which develops holistic and well–groomed graduates thus meeting the emerging needs of the economy.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched this scheme on skills development based higher education as part of College/University education, leading to Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) degree with multiple exits such as Diploma/Advanced Diploma under the NSQF.  The B.Voc. programme is focused on universities and Colleges providing undergraduate studies which would also incorporate specific job roles along with broad based general education. This would enable the graduates completing B.Voc.to make meaningful participation in accelerating India’s economy by gaining appropriate employment, becoming entrepreneurs and creating appropriate knowledge.

The details of B.Voc. courses offered by the College are given below.

B.Voc in Food Processing and Management

(Conducted by Department of Food Science and Technology)

The B.Voc. course in Food processing and Management is a judicious mix of skills, professional education related to Food processing and Management and also appropriate content of general education. It is designed with the objective of equipping the students to cope with the emerging trends and challenges in the Food Processing and Management.

Duration of the course:

The duration of  B.Voc. Food Processing and Management course shall be three years consisting of six semesters. The duration of each semester shall be five months inclusive of the days of examinations. There shall be at least 90 working days in a semester and a minimum 540 hours of instruction in a semester.

B,Voc in Software Development

The vocational programme B.Voc. in Software Development is  a judicious mix of skills, professional education related to Software Development and also appropriate content of general education. It is designed with the objective of equipping the students to cope with the emerging trends and challenges in the Software Development environment.

PGD-GST Course

The   PGD-GST program envisages to simplify GST   for all concerned as articulated by the   Government of  India by creating a  highly accomplished bunch of professionals.      PGD-GST Course is of one-year duration consisting of two semesters covering theoretical and practical aspects of  GST.    The course curriculum covers various GST, Office Automation and Computerised Accounting packages.
