SEMINAR ON MICHAEL FOUCAULT


 

The English Association ‘AELSA’ and Seminar Committee jointly organized a seminar on Michael Foucault titled “The Unities of Discourse” in the Smart Classroom on 23rd  October 2019 at 10:30 am. The inaugural session of the seminar began with the welcome speech by Dr. Mini R Nair, Associate Professor of English. Dr. Vrinda V, HoD of English presided over the meeting and Dr.Sushil Kumar R, Associate Professor of English felicitated the meeting. Dr. N M Babu, Former Senior Faculty Member, Dept of English,University College,Thiruvananthapuram delivered the keynote address on the topic The Unities of Discourse in which he discussed Foucault’s poststructural concepts followed by an interactive session with the students. The session came to a close with Parvathi S, convener of the seminar proposing vote of thanks.

 

 


 

SEMINAR ON

INFORMATICS


The Department of English and Seminar Committee jointly organized a seminar on Informatics titled “ Informatics: Operating Systems, Networking and Internet” in the Smart Classroom on 28th  February 2020 at 10:30 am. The inaugural session of the seminar began with the welcome speech by Prof. Sandhya C Vidyadharan, Associate Professor of English. Dr. Vrinda V, HoD of English presided over the meeting and Prof. Sandhya C Vidyadharan, Associate Professor of English felicitated the meeting. Prof. Sreelekshmi S, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, Sree Ayyappa College, Eramallikkara delivered the keynote address on the topic Informatics: Operating Systems, Networking and Internet in which she explained different aspects of operating systems and networking followed by an interactive session with the students. The session came to a close with Prof. Lisa Pavithran, Assistant Professor of English proposing vote of thanks.


 

INVITED TALK


PG Department of English, in association withthe Seminar Committee jointly organized a live Webinar on the topic “COVID 19 and the Mediascape” through Google Meet on 21.5.2020 at 11.00am. The meet was presided over by Prof. K R Sankaranarayanan (Head of the Department of English) and was inaugurated by Dr. K S Anil Kumar (Principal). Sri. ParacodeUnnikrishnan, Assistant Station Director, All India Radio, Thiruvananthapuram delivered the keynote address on the topicCOVID 19 and the Mediascape to an audience that covered people from different walks of life in addition to the students and teachers from the college. He expressed his concerns over the effect of the controversy regarding the agenda of the media in creating a panic situation in the pandemic period. The meet came to a close with Parvathi S (Convener, Seminar Committee) proposing vote of thanks.
