THEORIA 2020

PG Department of English, in association with AELSA (Association for English Literature Students Activities) and the Seminar Committee jointly organized an Online Lecture Series titled “THEORIA 2020” bringing together eminent personalities from diverse fields of literature, addressing issues from areas like Film, Theatre, Comparative Literature and Literary theory in October 2020 through Google Meet, providing an opportunity for students and faculty to learn from the best minds in the field.

 

DAY 1: 08 OCTOBER 2020

Topic: “HOW TO READ A MOVIE”

Resource person: Dr. Manu Ramakant (Associate Professor and Head, Dept. of English, SN College, Chempazhanthy)

 

The Online Lecture Series began on 8th October 2020 at 10:30am with Professor K R Sankaranarayanan officially welcoming the dignitaries on and off the dais. Dr. KS Anil Kumar, Principal, KSMDB College, Sasthamcotta presided over the meeting and Dr. Sushil Kumar R introduced the chief guest Dr. Manu Ramakant, Associate Professor and Head, Dept. of English, SN College, Chempazhanthy. In his lecture on the topic How to Read a Movie, Dr. Manu Ramakant discussed in detail the origin and development of film, language of cinema and its diferrent techniques to capture the attention of the audience. It was followed by a fruitful interactive session. The meet ended with Miss Aleena Mariam Jose, Secretary, AELSA proposing vote of thanks

The second session of the Online Lecture Series was on 12th October 2020. It began at 10:30am with Professor K R Sankaranarayanan welcoming the dignitaries on and off the dais. Dr. KS Anil Kumar, Principal, KSMDB College, Sasthamcotta presided over the meeting. Prof. MK Sanu, eminent writer and critic, poured his musings on theatre, especially on Indian theatre. It was followed by a fruitful interactive session. The meet ended with Mr. A K Krishnanunni, final year BA student proposing vote of thanks.

The third session of the Online Lecture Series was on 21stOctober 2020. It began at 10:30am with Professor K R Sankaranarayanan welcoming the dignitaries on and off the dais. Dr. KS Anil Kumar, Principal, KSMDB College, Sasthamcotta presided over the meeting. Prof. K Satchidanandan, eminent writer and critic, spoke eloquently overIndian literature comparing and contrasting it with the world literature. The fourth session of the Online Lecture Series was on 28th  October 2020. It began at 10:30am with Professor K R Sankaranarayanan welcoming the dignitaries on and off the dais. Dr. KS Anil Kumar, Principal, KSMDB College, Sasthamcotta presided over the meeting. Prof. P Harikrishna(Former Head, Dept. of English, NSS College, Pandalam). He lectured on the topic “Anthropocene, Climate, History: Ruminations of an Aesthete” focusing on the works of Deepesh Chakraborty.It was followed by a productivediscussion with the students. The meet ended with Asst.Prof. Parvathi S, (Convener, Seminar Committee) proposing vote of thanks.
