Seminar : ” Microplastics-Impact on Ecosystem”

The seminar began at 10.30AM at Zoology Lecture Hall on 8 th March 2023. The meeting was presided over by Prof. Dr. K. C. Prakash, Principal, of the College. Dr. Manju M, HOD, Dept of Zoology welcomed the gathering. The seminar wasinaugurated by Dr. Vinod P., Assistant Professor, Dept of Zoology, NSS College, Pandalam and delivered the Keynote Address on the topic Microplastics andtheir impact on ecosystem. The topic was new to the B.Sc. Zoology students and he explained in detail about the sources and mode of accumulation microplastics (plastic particles - 5mm diameter) in animal body including humans and shared the shocking results of recent research on microplastics. He expressed the concern about the existence of present and future generations living on earth polluted with microplastics and all sorts of toxicants. Felicitations were offered by Dr. Prathibhakumari P. V., Dr. Lekshmi S. and Dr. Chandana. Harikrishnan, Zoology Association Secretary proposed the Vote of thanks. The Second Session was chaired by Dr. Vinod P. The Students of Dept of Zoology presented their topics. The list of oral presentation is given below.
